Texas State CIM Announces Promotion Of Dr. Torres

Dr. Gene Bourgeois, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs for Texas State University has announced the promotion of Dr. Anthony S. Torres from Associate Professor to Professor. Dr. Torres received a Ph.D. and MS in civil engineering from the University of New Mexico and a BS in civil engineering from New Mexico State University.  Since arriving at Texas State, he has focused his expertise in cement and concrete laboratory testing and development. His research expertise and academic training has allowed him to address concrete materials research from a new perspective, often developing new techniques/procedures or new approaches to address an issue. Dr. Torres has published over 50 peer-reviewed journal publications, book chapters, and conference proceedings. Dr. Torres has received over $1.2 M in externally funded research projects, including a recent MnDOT project focusing on developing an alternative hardened air void analysis for concrete pavement. He is also the current PI for TxDOT project 0-7017 “The use of Rapid setting hydraulic cement (RSHC) for Structural applications”. He’s also the PI for a Holcim Project focusing on carbonation and ASR testing a co-PI on a NASA project focusing on geopolymer concretes for their upcoming Artemis mission, which is their next mission to the moon.
