Become a Patron

As the economy rebounds, the demand for qualified professionals in the concrete industry will grow. CIM graduates will be in high demand—and companies that have supported the CIM Patrons Program will have a competitive advantage in attracting them. Programs will have a leg up.

For the same reason Major League Baseball has minor league teams for player development, businesses in the concrete industry and those in the inputs sector should get involved with the CIM program. The minor league system that our sector sorely needs is CIM.

The CIM program helps tie together all the disciplines that are needed to run a business that is reliant on technological expertise, environmental understanding, transportation logistical knowledge and much more. CIM grads are starting from a higher base of knowledge that will take them to an ultimately higher level, along with their companies and coworkers.

One of the great benefits of supporting this program is that every student ends up in our network as a co-worker, competitor, supplier or customer. Building relationships with these future leaders, while they are still students, allows us to be on the forefront of concrete in Texas.

For the foreseeable future, the demand for concrete is going to remain high. With that demand will come competition for good employees. For the betterment of the concrete industry, it should be in every concrete company’s interest to be involved in the CIM program.

I would like to see the number of CIM declared majors double in the next few years. I would also like to see more females graduating with a CIM degree. It’s relatively easy to get the guys to look at CIM, but not so much for the ladies. If we start building our student body with more females, that will help grow the industry.

CIM students are introduced to the industry early and often, which allows them to jump ahead of the learning curve and hit the ground running upon graduation.

We recognize that talented people entering the concrete field, whether with Silvi or a competitor, is a win for the entire industry. Like most industries, we cannot grow without a constant influx of diverse employees that push the industry forward with new and more efficient ways to do business. CIM students are uniquely positioned to fill that role.

The CIM program will be a key asset that enables the concrete,aggregate and cement industries to not only adjust to a changing dynamic with many new paradigms of workforce expectations and operational challenges, but to truly thrive in this changing marketplace and ultimately be successful in continuing to support the foundation that literally builds our economy.
