Support CIM year-round with used equipment donations

Put your used equipment to work for the CIM program

The Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program and Ritchie Bros. have partnered to make it easier than ever to support the future of the concrete industry through a new year-round equipment auction program. Companies can now consign eligible equipment throughout the year through Ritchie Bros.’ extensive regional auction network.

Every donation helps fund scholarships, educational resources, and program growth across CIM’s five partner universities—developing the skilled professionals our industry depends on.

$22.53M+

Raised for CIM over 21 years through the World of Concrete auction with Ritchie Bros.

A partnership built on shared purpose

CIM has long benefited from the dedication of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, whose support at the annual World of Concrete auction has helped raise more than $22.53 million for the program over 21 years. That partnership now extends further.

Through Ritchie Bros.’ network of regional auction sites across North America, your company can consign used construction equipment at any point during the year. Ritchie Bros. handles auction logistics and connects your donated equipment with their extensive buyer base.

How it works

There are two pathways to donate:

Non-Titled Equipment
If the equipment is not separately titled:

  1. Donate directly to CIM.

Submit your equipment’s information to CIM using the “Non-Titled Equipment” Donation Form.

  2. CIM coordinates with Ritchie Bros.

CIM will share the donation information with Ritchie Bros., who will then work directly with you to list and sell the equipment through a regional auction.

  3. Proceeds go directly to CIM.

All funds raised will be transferred directly to CIM as a charitable donation.

Titled Equipment
If the equipment carries a title:

  1. Contract directly with Ritchie Bros.

Contact your Ritchie Bros. representative to sell your equipment through your own seller account.

  2. Equipment is sold.

Ritchie Bros. conducts the auction, and the proceeds are paid directly to you.

  3. You donate to CIM.

You then contribute the proceeds to CIM as a charitable cash donation.

Not sure which pathway applies to your equipment? Reach out to CIM Executive Director, Nicole Maher at nmaher@concretedegree.com or 301.325.4156 for guidance.

Why donate?

The concrete industry faces an unprecedented need for talented professionals. As experienced workers retire and project complexity continues to increase, developing the next generation of leaders has never been more important.

Expand your industry impact beyond World of Concrete

While the annual CIM auction remains a cornerstone of support, meeting the ever-increasing demand for the next generation of industry leaders will take a year-round investment. This new program helps sustain scholarships and program development across all current and future CIM partner universities. Now, companies have the opportunity to contribute throughout the year.

Put idle equipment to work

Used equipment sitting in your yard has untapped value. Through Ritchie Bros.' regional auctions, that equipment reaches a qualified buyer base, generating real proceeds for a cause that directly benefits our industry.

Receive meaningful recognition

All donors receive recognition through CIM's promotional channels, including the CIM website, social media and e-newsletter, which reaches more than 3,000 industry subscribers.

Invest in your future workforce

CIM has produced more than 1,800 graduates, with a near 100% job placement rate and over 80% retention rate in the industry. Your donation directly supports scholarships and program resources that attract and develop the next generation of concrete industry professionals.

Your donation may be tax-deductible

The National Steering Committee for Concrete Industry Management Education (CIM) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. When you receive no goods or services in return for your donation, it is fully tax-deductible up to the net sale price of the item, as outlined in IRS rules. We recommend consulting your tax advisor to confirm how this applies to your specific situation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this program separate from the annual CIM auction at World of Concrete?

Yes. The annual CIM auction, held each January at World of Concrete in partnership with Ritchie Bros., remains a standalone event and a critical fundraiser for CIM. Logistically, though, we cannot bring used equipment from around the country to sell at the show.

This new year-round program instead operates through Ritchie Bros.’ regional auction network and gives donors a flexible alternative to contribute to a local auction outside of the World of Concrete timeline.

What types of equipment can be donated?

Any used construction or concrete-related equipment may be eligible. Contact Nicole Maher at nmaher@concretedegree.com or call at 301.325.4156 to confirm eligibility for your specific item, determine the right pathway for your equipment (process differs for titled and non-titled equipment) and to connect you with the appropriate Ritchie Bros. representative.

Do I need to transport the equipment to a Ritchie Bros. location?

Not necessarily. Donors have several options depending on the equipment, location, and timing of the sale.

  • Transport it yourself to a participating Ritchie Bros. auction site.
  • Use Veritread transportation services, which can arrange pickup and delivery through a full-service, white-glove transportation experience.
  • Sell the equipment where it sits, in select situations, allowing the equipment to remain at your location while still reaching Ritchie Bros.’ global buyer network.

A Ritchie Bros. representative will work with you to determine the most practical and cost-effective solution for your equipment and location.

Who do I contact to get started?

Contact Executive Director Nicole Maher at nmaher@concretedegree.com

or call 301.325.4156. We will help determine the right donation pathway for your equipment and connect you with the appropriate Ritchie Bros. representative.

Can my company donate cash instead of equipment?

Yes. Cash donations to CIM are also welcome and fully tax-deductible, as permitted by IRS rules, when no goods or services are received in return.

Put your used equipment to work to help build the future of the CIM program

Every piece of equipment you donate helps fund the scholarships and program resources that CIM relies on to develop future leaders in the concrete industry. The process is straightforward, the impact is lasting, and your company earns recognition alongside a program the entire industry stands behind. Together, we can transform unused equipment into scholarships, education, and future industry leadership.
