What is your current position and responsibilities at (your current company)?
Currently, I oversee the sales of cement and slag in Northern California, focusing on driving revenue and managing key client relationships. My role involves understanding market trends and tailoring solutions to meet the needs of customers. Building trust-based relationships is a core part of my work and it’s rewarding to see these partnerships thrive over time.
Why did you choose this position and this company?
I chose this position because my extensive work experience has made me highly qualified for the role. Over the years, I have honed my skills and gained valuable insights that have prepared me to take on the significant responsibility of managing a business line that contributes substantially to our company’s revenue. This role not only aligns with my professional background but also challenges me to leverage my expertise to drive success.

How has the CIM program prepared you for your current job responsibilities?
The CIM program provided me with invaluable insights into the industry before I even started working in it. By the time I graduated, I had a solid understanding of the industry’s dynamics and had already established key contacts, many of whom I still interact with more than a decade later. The program also gave me a strong foundation in concrete fundamentals and required a minor in business administration, where I gained essential skills in accounting, economics and Excel. This well-rounded education has been instrumental in my professional journey, preparing me both technically and ethically for a successful career.
What advice would you give to current CIM students?
My advice to current students is to seek multiple mentors—experienced professionals can provide guidance and constructive feedback that is invaluable for growth. Additionally, work to differentiate yourself by excelling in unique projects or developing specialized skills. Building a strong personal brand will set you apart in the competitive job market.
