Race To Success at World of Concrete with CIM

Join students from the five universities that offer the Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program at a new action event at World of Concrete. “Racing to Success” will occur in the Grand Concourse located between the North and Central Halls at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Based on a long-time favorite, friendly-industry competition developed by the Nebraska Aggregates and Concrete Association (NACA), “Racing to Success” symbolizes the opportunities that a CIM degree provides graduates in one of the nation’s most dynamic industries.

This fun-filled event is also a recruiting opportunity. Current CIM students will be in attendance to explain how CIM is the solution to voids at every level of a company’s management structure. As the program equips its students with practical business skills and hands-on experience, graduates make an immediate impact in management positions throughout the concrete and construction industries. Recent graduates will also be on hand to discuss their experiences with CIM. For more than two decades, CIM graduates have filled key positions in the concrete industry, leading all types of organizations. More than 1,575 students have graduated from CIM programs with starting salaries competitive with other high-tech industries. CIM graduates have the skill set necessary to meet the growing demands of the progressively changing concrete industry of the 21st century. In addition to the five program universities, an Executive MBA in CIM is also available.

While our programs have been active for more than 25 years, many in the concrete industry aren’t familiar with CIM. We need to ask World of Concrete attendees to inform their employees about the benefits of the CIM program to help build our industry’s next generation of leaders.  This is a great way to leave your legacy to the industry you love.

The racetrack on which the rocks roll will be a silent auction item at the 2023 CIM Auction. The silent auction will end  on January  19th.

The Race

The racetrack is a dual lane set-up that enables a friendly competition between two contestants. The racetrack is about three yards long with an electronic finish line. Winners of each race are determined by the fastest time determined by the track clock.

To promote participation, World of Concrete has provided gift cards to the rolling rock owner with the fastest finishing time. Hourly winners will be invited back to the race for the day’s winners.

The goal of the competition is to encourage other associations or companies to bid on the rolling rock racetrack. “Our goal is to promote our industry through this fun activity,” said Mulder.

During World of Concrete show hours attendees will have an opportunity to race their rock on the new track from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. In addition to general racing, CIM is hosting competitions between programs on Tuesday.

Attendees may bring their own aggregate, but the rock must be approved by event judges. Racing rocks must comply to specification of size and weight.

If contestants didn’t bring their favorite rock, they can select an aggregate from a bucket of pre-approved rounded pieces of natural aggregate provided by the Nebraska Aggregate and Concrete Associations. There will be a voluntary rolling rock purchase donation to the CIM National auction. Purchasers can keep the rock as a souvenir. Rocks must not be altered, polished, or shaped.
