  • CIM Program Seeks Donations For World Of Concrete Auction
The CIM program is seeking donations for fifth annual auction to be held at the World of Concrete on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 1 p.m.

Organizers hope the 2010 Auction is even bigger than the 2009 Auction, which raised approximately $300,000. The money raised from the CIM Auction, which will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, will benefit the CIM National Steering Committee and support the CIM Programs.

According to Wally Johnson of US Concrete, Inc., the 2009 CIM Auction Chairman, "The money raised will benefit the CIM National Steering Committee and support the current CIM programs as well as help fund future program expansion."

In addition to the live auction, a silent auction was held this year. Auction items included cement, a skid steer, concrete saws, drills, mixers, vibrators, scaffolding, safety equipment, screeds, fiber transport systems, dust collectors, NDT equipment, decorative concrete tools, water meters, pumps, generators, training sessions, reference books, advertisements, laptop computers, sports memorabilia, sports travel packages, golf school packages and vacation travel packages.

"Thanks to the World of Concrete (WOC) Show Management, Hanley Wood Publications, Concrete Producer magazine, Concrete Construction magazine, and Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, we have raised more than $1 million through the CIM Auctions," said Brian Gallagher, Chairman of the CIM Marketing Committee.

About CIM

The objective of the Concrete Industry Management (CIM) Program is to produce graduates grounded in the basics of concrete's production techniques and its use in a multitude of construction applications. In addition, graduates acquire a minor in business administration. A CIM degree is designed to provide the graduate with a broad array of initial opportunities within the industry that include sales, operations, technical services, project, production and concrete construction management. CIM students gain both theoretical and practical knowledge of the concrete industry, its production techniques and construction applications through typical classroom-style learning, as well as hands-on experience through an array of internship opportunities.

The CIM Program was originally founded at Middle Tennessee State University in 1996. Since then, more than 200 people have graduated from the program. The CIM Program has expanded to Arizona State University, the New Jersey Institute of Technology, California State University - Chico and Texas State University - San Marcos.
