Record Breaking Auction At WOC!
|
The
Concrete Industry Management (CIM) Auction, held at World
of Concrete on Wednesday, January 25, was the largest ever
in the event's seven year history! According to Eugene
Martineau, Executive Director of the National Steering Committee
(NSC) and Chairman of the Auction Committee, more than $617,750 in
gross revenue was raised during both the silent and live auctions.

"The NSC is
pleased to report that the 2012 World of Concrete Auction surpassed
last year's total proceeds by more than $100,000 and exceeded the
previous record by $50,000," said Martineau. "This is yet
another example of the high value the concrete industry places on the
CIM progjram." A record number of 155 items were donated for
both the silent and live auctions.
"We are
thrilled how everyone stepped up to donate and bid on the great
auction items and support the CIM program," commented
Martineau. "The money raised will benefit the NSC and
support the current CIM program as well as help fund future program
expansion."
"Thanks to
the incredible support of the event from the World of Concrete (WOC)
Show Management, Hanley Wood Publications, McNeilus Companies, Inc.,
Mack Trucks, Inc., and Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, the auction was a
complete success," said Martineau.

"East
Meets West" With Student Artistry Project
|
Last
week at WOC, a team of students from the CIM University consortium
embarked on their 2012 project, "East Meets West." The
design resembled portions of the Golden Gate Bridge colliding with
the Brooklyn Bridge, representing the CIM programs across the country.
Project
managers included Andrew Billingsley, a recent Chico State CIM
graduate and Clark Branum, a recognized expert in decorative concrete
who is a lecturer with the Chico program's decorative concrete class.
Michael Eastergard of Preitech, donated the formwork for the project
as well as provided his expert industry input as he has done for the
past two years.
